SSL certificate FAQ
What does an SSL certificate checker do?
It connects to a website over HTTPS, reads the certificate the server presents and shows who issued it, when it expires, which domains it covers and which TLS version is used.
What happens when an SSL certificate expires?
Browsers show a full-page "Your connection is not private" warning, APIs and apps refuse to connect, and search rankings and sales drop until it is renewed.
How many days before expiry should I renew?
Renew at least 14–30 days early. Automated tools like Let's Encrypt clients renew at about 30 days left.
Is this checker free?
Yes. No sign-up, no ads, no tracking of the domains you check beyond a short cache.
Can I check many domains at once?
Yes – the SSLWatchLive bulk page (/bulk) checks up to 20 domains at once and exports CSV and calendar reminders.
Why does it say "not trusted"?
The certificate is self-signed, expired, issued for a different name, or the server does not send the intermediate certificate.
How do I check if a website's SSL certificate is valid?
Enter the domain above. You will see "Valid & trusted" when the certificate is in date, matches the domain and chains to a trusted root; otherwise the exact error is shown.
How do I check an SSL certificate expiration date?
Enter the domain – the result shows the exact expiry date and days left. For many domains use the bulk checker and export CSV or calendar reminders.
Is SSLWatchLive free?
Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up and has no ads.
Does it check domain expiry too?
Yes. It looks up the domain registration expiry date and registrar through RDAP, so you can renew both on time.
